I don’t remember life before gymnastics!!! I began at age 3 and went on to compete at many national and international events at world set level before qualifying as a coach. I have been coaching for well over twenty years now and still love every minute of it! I set up Valdez Gymnastics over 10 years ago. We now have over 1000 active members. I have 3 wonderful kids who vary from loving gymnastics, to finding it so boring!! I am a keen free style skydiver now – gymnastics in the sky is a lot easier on the knees at my age !!
Deputy Head Coach
I started training at Valdez when I was 6. I was chosen to train in the squad and competed at lots of county and regional competitions until I began coaching. I worked my way through many British Gymnastics coaching awards and became a senior coach at Valdez 2 years ago. I am now deputy head coach at Valdez Bishop’s Stortford. As well as gymnastics, I have a strong dance background, performing and teaching. I trained at the National Centre for Circus Arts in aerial dance and theatre and still enjoy training in my spare time. I love being a part of Valdez teaching children of all ages and abilities watching them improve in confidence and through our award scheme.
Deputy Head Coach
I have been part of the Valdez team for 6 years now and honestly couldn’t imagine myself anywhere else!
I absolutely love coaching at Valdez, watching the children grow and develop in their skills is such a reward.
I started coaching as an assistant helping out Holly, which seems like a lifetime ago! I have now worked my way up to Deputy Head Coach of Valdez (WGC) which is an honour and I enjoy every second of!
One of my main aims in teaching gymnastics is to ensure the kids are having fun as well as learning and working hard.
I work everyday at Valdez so whatever class it is, I’ll be there!
I have been coaching at Valdez for 4 years, I first started as an assistant coach and I am now a British Gymnastics level 2 senior coach. I am currently still competing with my cheerleading squad who I have been a part of for 7 years, we compete at lots of national competitions. Being a gymnastics coach is such a rewarding job, seeing the gymnasts progress in their skills more and more each week!!
I have always loved gymnastics and began teaching myself skills from an early age. I finally joined a club when I was about 8 years old and after a few months I was moved to a competitive squad. In my teen years I decided to join an Acro club where I also competed and began my coaching in 2009.
When I saw Valdez was so close to my home I couldn’t wait to join! I loved that the gym was fully equipped with a sprung floor and all the apparatus. I then joined the fab team of coaches in 2010.
My favourite thing about coaching at Valdez is when a gymnast gets a new skill or a medal, it’s the best feeling knowing you have helped them achieve it!!’
